At work we listen to music now and again. We talk about it some, and it makes me realize that I’m completely out of touch with it. All I know these days are what gets played on the radio because I’m one of the two people in NYC that has a car. The radio is awful in New York, but somehow I gravitate to it. I can sing along to Top 40′s radio all day and night. I don’t mind it, but I definitely feel like I’ve lost some musical sophistication. In some ways I want to be a little pretentious.

I mean how can I fill out all those social media questionairres about music if my tastes are a decade old? I have an iPhone, but I never really get around to making mixes anymore. Hell I got bored of all my music a long time ago, I didn’t want to buy any, I didn’t feel like torrenting any, and the whole thing seemed lost. We went through an entire Pandora phase, but the strange thing was that after a few hours of listening it seemed to loop. I kept on trying different ways to classify my rock needs, and nothing seemed to change. Now I am fully onto 8tracks. My interns are trying to bring me up to speed. It makes me feel old.

Top Ten Worst Band Names From the Warped Tour 2010

When I was in my formative high school days, going to the Warped Tour was a highlight of the summer. Just old enough to drive, we’d pile about 9 bros and skateboards into mom-duke’s Ford Exploder and drive at high speed to Fitchburg or some other pseudo-municipality in middle Massachusetts, blasting Rage Against The Machine and… Read More
