Michael Jackson Remembered… My 10 Fave Tunes.

August 29, 1958-June 25, 2009

There are obviously far more than ten that I could listen to on a loop. Please feel free to add your own!

10. Another Part of Me

Two words: Captain EO. This song is sense memory for me. Summertime, Disneyland, a delicious churro (it was the ONLY thing I wanted to eat at Disneyland) and 3D glasses, watching Michael dance.

9. Will You Be There

A lot of artists try to do this take-one-line-of-melody-and-turn-it-into-a-whole-song thing and it just becomes insufferable. But Michael did it right.

8. Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough

Who sings in this register?? Who sings in this register and sounds this cool?? Michael.

7. Rock With You

This song just makes you move. Dig it.

6. Thriller

Does this even need an explanation? No.

5. Human Nature

Lovely lyrics. Soothing melody.

4. Smooth Criminal

A most infectious bass line and hook.

3. I Want You Back

Technically not just MJ, but the opening bars of this song are simply fantastic.

2. P.Y.T (Pretty Young Thing)

Again, whatever makes you move. I love this song: the groove, the hook, the voice… it all just works.

1. The Way You Make Me Feel

Who doesn’t love this shit?? One of the best first lines of any song, ever.
