Thinking about MLK too much makes me well up a bit, and what with Obama on the cusp of achieving our collective dreams, I have to stray from that path, rather than write up some insipid tear-soaked post. (Not going to lie, I started welling up reading Obama books at B&N today.) So…
Instead I’m happy to share a great essay on the fakeworld version of MLK and his fakeworld nemesis, Malcolm X.
Back when I was in high school and someone would question my comic book gluttony, I’d point them to the fact that the X-men was really all about MLK versus Malcolm X (plus spandex), which I thought was a pretty neat idea. I never found an article explicitly saying the same thing for awhile, and thought I must be a kook.
But here it finally is, someone who actually took the time to explore the MLK/Malcolm X mirrors Professor X and Magneto.
