As a pop culture blog we really need to mention the passing of Ed McMahon

I wasn’t born in a time where I remember Johnny Carson. So that part of Mr. McMahon’s life isn’t really a part of my memory. What I DO remember are two very important things.

1. My mom’s insistence that we’d win Publisher’s Clearing House and all the magazine subscriptions I had.

2. Star Search! I watched Star Search literally all the time. I would dance with the dancers, sing with the singers… and take a bathroom break during the “model” section (seriously, did anyone care about that?).

So although this clip is not his most memorable work, it is something I swear to myself I must have seen when it originally aired! I think brings to light just how much Ed McMahon did for pop culture, and therefore us, and therefore YOU.

Peace be with you Ed! Thank you.
